President Muizzu Applauds Maldivian Athletes for Success at Asian Surfing Championship

In a post on the social media platform X, President Muizzu commended both the male and female athletes for their remarkable achievements.

The Maldives' surfing teams excelled in the ongoing championship, securing top positions in the South Asia region. The men's and women's teams both clinched first place, earning slots for the 2026 Asian Games. Additionally, the men's team achieved an impressive fourth place overall in Asia.

The championship, which serves as a qualifying event for the Asian Games, is being held in K. Thulusdhoo, Maldives, with participation from 113 athletes representing 20 nations. This event marks the second time the Maldives has hosted the Asian Surfing Championship.
