Maldives Condemns Assassination of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh

The government of the Maldives has condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Chief of the Political Bureau of Hamas.

In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government urged all nations to respect international law and humanitarian principles, while calling for a swift and lasting resolution to the Gaza crisis to ensure regional peace and stability.

Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran on July 31, an incident that has heightened tensions in the Middle East. Haniyeh, who was usually based in Qatar, had been a key figure in Hamas's international diplomacy and involved in indirect negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza.
