Postponement of Duty Exemptions on Tobacco Products and Nicotine Devices

The Maldives Customs Service has postponed the cessation of duty exemptions on tobacco and nicotine-containing products, including their consumption devices.

Initially set to take effect on Thursday, the new regulation will now be implemented starting November.

Under this amendment, duty concessions will continue for products such as cigarettes, shisha, flavored cigarettes, and related liquids until the new deadline. Other changes under the revised regulations, however, took effect on Thursday, including an increase in the duty exemption threshold for goods brought by tourists and small items by individuals, now raised to MVR 10,000.
