NSPA's Debt Reaches MVR 871 Million at End of Solih Administration

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) reported that its debt burdens stood at MVR 871 million at the conclusion of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration.

This debt, as detailed in information provided to the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, is composed of unpaid dues to both private companies and government organizations.

In the current year's budget, MVR 4 billion has been allocated for NSPA to provide aid, including allowances for single mothers and funding for various medical needs. During a committee meeting on Tuesday, it was revealed that Aasandha and NSPA owe MVR 144 million to ADK Hospital alone.

While NSPA complied with the Committee's request for information, Aasandha refused to disclose the requested details, leading to frustration among members of parliament. The MPs have once again demanded that Aasandha provide the necessary information.
