Information Commissioner Files Case Against President’s Office Over RTI Violations

The Prosecutor General�s Office (PG Office) has confirmed that the Information Commissioner�s Office (iCom) has filed a case against the President�s Office for failing to respond to requests made under the Freedom of Right to Information Act.
Information Commissioner Ahmed Ahid Rasheed stated that the case concerns the President’s Office's failure to comply with an order to provide information regarding Covid-19 vaccinations within the stipulated period.
Ahid also mentioned that his office is preparing to file additional cases against the President’s Office for withholding information, although he could not provide an exact number as the cases are still pending. He emphasized that the President’s Office had been instructed multiple times to disclose the requested information.
