BCC Awarded Contract for Local Salt Production in the Maldives

Minister Saeed reiterated the government's commitment to executing this project swiftly, stating, "With God's grace, we will do this work within our five-year term." He emphasized the potential of the Maldives' vast sea area for salt production and the goal of meeting the local market's salt needs through domestic production.

While the concept of local salt production was previously discussed during Saeed's tenure under former President Abdullah Yameen, no practical steps were taken at that time. Under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the current administration is actively seeking to diversify the Maldivian economy, which heavily relies on tourism, by developing new business and commercial sectors.
