China Southern Airlines Launches Record-Breaking Flight from Shenzhen to Mexico City

China Southern Airlines is set to launch its inaugural direct passenger flight from Shenzhen to Mexico City, marking the longest nonstop regular commercial flight originating in China.

Covering an intercontinental distance of approximately 14,147 kilometers (8,790 miles) each way, the flight will depart from Shenzhen on May 11, making a 16-hour nonstop journey to Mexico City. It will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The return journey will take approximately 21 hours and 20 minutes, departing on Wednesdays and Sundays starting May 12.

The route, with flight code CZ8031/2, will utilize Airbus A350 aircraft and includes a brief refueling stopover in Tijuana for passengers traveling from China to Mexico.

This new route surpasses China Southern Airlines’ Guangzhou to New York flight, becoming the furthest nonstop commercial flight from a Chinese airport. It also ranks among the world's longest flights, occupying the 8th position on the list compiled by aviation analytics database OAG.

The launch of this route underscores China's efforts to restore international flight connections following the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. China Southern Airlines previously operated flights to Mexico via Vancouver, commencing service in April 2017.
