President Muizzu Urges Parliamentary Majority for Legislative Agenda

President Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized the necessity of securing a parliamentary majority to pass over 200 bills required to fulfill the commitments made to the people.

Speaking at a gathering near Hiyaa Flats in Hulhumale' Phase 2, he stressed the importance of winning the upcoming parliamentary elections to achieve optimal results during his administration.

President Muizzu reiterated the crucial role of parliament in facilitating efforts to honor pledges to citizens, highlighting the impossibility of passing numerous bills without sufficient support within the parliament. He emphasized the significance of electing candidates who will support efforts to enact new legislation on various crucial matters such as land, housing, and real estate.

Highlighting the need to break away from past trends, President Muizzu urged support for candidates from the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)/ People's National Congress (PNC) coalition to avoid continuation of past practices in parliament.

President Muizzu expressed frustration over lack of support from the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)-led parliament. He reiterated his commitment to fostering peace and harmony, vowing to work sincerely towards national progress once the trust and cooperation of the people are secured through the parliamentary elections.
