Government Urges Adherence to ACC Report on Housing Allocation

The government issued a statement today, cautioning that disregarding the Anti Corruption Commission's (ACC) report on the allocation of 4,000 housing flats in Hulhumal, prepared by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, would infringe upon the rights of many individuals.

This response comes following Parliament's directive for the government to allocate the flats based on the original list released during the previous administration, coupled with concerns expressed in a letter about the delayed handover of the apartments.

The government's decision to postpone the handover stemmed from the ACC's findings, which revealed that 60 percent of the listed applicants did not meet the eligibility criteria. Consequently, a special committee was established to review the list and ensure fair allocation. However, Parliament unanimously resolved to instruct the government to adhere to the original list.

Chief Spokesperson of the President's Office, Heena Waleed, emphasized that while the ACC report raised significant concerns, the government is committed to upholding the rights of all citizens involved in the housing allocation process.
