Parliament Approves Appointment of Three New Ambassadors

In a recent session, the Maldives Parliament approved the appointment of three new ambassadors to key countries.

Notably, former governor Dr. Fazeel Najeeb was endorsed as the ambassador to China, alongside Shiuneen Rasheed as Ambassador to Bangladesh, and Mohammed Thoha as the Saudi Ambassador.

These nominations, put forward by the President, underwent scrutiny by the Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee before receiving approval. Dr. Fazeel and Shiuneen garnered 35 votes each, while Thoha secured 33 votes, all without any opposing ballots.

It's worth mentioning that Dr. Fazeel Najeeb and Thoha previously contested in the PNC primary during the last parliamentary elections, albeit unsuccessfully, with Dr. Fazeel vying for the Fuvahmulah Central constituency and Thoha for the Holhudhoo constituency.
