Economic Minister Embarks on Official US Visit to Enhance Trade Relations

In a statement posted on X, Minister Saeed outlined that the primary objective of his visit is to explore avenues for deepening economic cooperation between the two nations. During his stay, he is scheduled to hold discussions with trade representatives, members of the US Chamber of Commerce, and officials from various government agencies.

This visit follows closely on the heels of Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer's recent official trip to the US at the end of June. Minister Zameer engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, including potential collaborations in defense, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Both diplomatic missions occur amidst ongoing developments in the US Congress, where lawmakers are preparing to introduce legislation that could halt aid to Maldives unless it reverses its decision to impose a ban on Israeli passport holders.
