Maldives Invites Investors for 50-Room Airport Hotel in Maafaru

Island Aviation (IAS), the operator of Maafaru Airport, has announced an opportunity for interested parties to construct and operate a 50-room airport hotel in N. Maafaru.

The opportunity is open to both domestic and foreign companies, with the completion of the airport's second phase of development expected to transform it into a tourism hub with increased direct flights from abroad.

IAS welcomes various proposals for the project and aims to ensure mutual benefits for all parties involved. An information session will be held to provide interested parties with more details about the project.

Maafaru Airport, one of the busiest airports in Maldives apart from Velana International Airport, frequently receives a significant number of private jets from abroad.

Additionally, a project is underway to further develop the airport with assistance from the Abu Dhabi Development Fund. This includes extending the runway to 650 meters to accommodate Boeing 777s, widening the taxiway, upgrading the AGL system, and improving the power system.
