Maldives Condemns Israel's Land Confiscation in Jordan Valley

The Maldivian government has strongly denounced Israel's recent decision to seize 8,000 dunams (1,977 acres) of land in the Jordan Valley of Occupied Palestine.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on March 29, 2024, Maldives condemned the action as a blatant violation of international law and the rights of the Palestinian people.

The statement highlighted the potential for increased tension and instability in the Middle East region due to Israel's actions.

Maldives called on the international community to take decisive measures to stop Israel's ongoing breaches of international law and to safeguard the rights of Palestinians.

Expressing unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, Maldives reiterated its belief that lasting peace in the region hinges on the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders.

The statement reaffirmed Maldives' commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and advocating for justice and peace in the region, aligning with the positions of numerous other nations and international organizations that have condemned Israel's expansionist policies in Occupied Palestine.
