Trump Sues ABC News and Stephanopoulos Over Interview

Trump Files Defamation Lawsuit Against ABC News and George Stephanopoulos Over Interview Remarks

Former US President Donald Trump has filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC News and host George Stephanopoulos, alleging disparaging remarks made during an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace.

The lawsuit, filed in US District Court in Miami, accuses Stephanopoulos of defaming Trump by repeatedly using the word "rape" in reference to allegations made by writer E. Jean Carroll. Trump's team had requested a retraction and statement of regret from ABC News following the interview, but received no response.

The lawsuit lists multiple instances where Stephanopoulos allegedly stated that Trump was "found to have committed rape" or was "liable for rape," which Trump claims are false and malicious. Mace, during the interview, expressed frustration with Stephanopoulos's line of questioning, emphasizing that Trump's case was not a criminal court matter and correcting the characterization of the allegations as sexual assault rather than rape.
